Florida High School Teacher Arrested for Molestation of Student
FRANKLIN COUNTY, FL – Gerald Tate, a physical education teacher at Franklin County High School was arrested yesterday and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a student. According to the Apalachicola Times, Tate was arrested after being questioned regarding an incident that occurred during the last week of school in May 2014. The investigation was reportedly initiated on September 12. Based on the student’s account, crime scene technicians from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement were called in and found evidence of semen in a specific room. Tate reportedly quickly admitted the molestation allegation was true. Tate has been suspended without pay. The Tallahassee Democrat reported additional charges are pending.
