  • GRANTSBURG HIGH SCHOOL (GRANTSBURG)
    480 E James Ave, Grantsburg, WI 54840
Matthew Robert Koenen, 36, of Stillwater, Minnesota, and a history teacher at Grantsburg High School in Grantsburg, Wisconsin, was arrested in November 2013, after developing relationships with at least two 16-year-old female students in person, online and through text messages. A criminal complaint filed against Koenen says he brought one of the students to his home in August 2012 and had sex with her while his child was taking a nap. The student eventually realized the relationship was wrong and stopped responding to Koenen’s messages. As authorities were investigating the allegations, they learned at least two other female students had also been to Koenen’s home while his wife was away in 2012. Koenen faced up to 15 years in prison, but in December 2014 was sentenced to 120 days in jail and 15 years of probation. A 4-year prison sentence was stayed, provided he abides by the terms of his probation. News Source: CBS Minnesota
