On Wednesday January 30, Travis Lee Putnam, a teacher at Orange Glen High School in Escondido, was arrested on suspicion of four counts of lewd acts with a child who is 14 or 15 years old. The arrest stems from the San Diego Sheriff’s Department’s child abuse unit being notified of the alleged crimes on Tuesday. An initial investigation by the Sheriff’s Department determined there was sufficient probable cause to make an arrest.
Before Orange Glen, Travis Lee Putnam taught at a number of schools in North County. Putnam has taught at Rincon Middle School and Hidden Valley Middle School in the Escondido Union School District, San Elijo Middle School in the San Marcos Unified School District and Classical Academy, a charter school in Escondido. Putnam also works with the Orange Glen High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) program. In 2014, Putnam began volunteering with the high school ministry at Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido.
