On Wednesday June 19, Scott Silva , a former teacher and lacrosse coach at Birmingham Charter Community High School in Van Nuys, was sentenced to nearly 11 years in jail. Silva was ordered to register as a sex offender and to also serve five years probation.
Silva was arrested in November and has remained in police custody since. Silva was convicted of a total of 25 misdemeanor charges. These include 16 counts of child molestation, six counts of sexual battery, two counts of lewd conduct on a child, and one count of false imprisonment.
