On Tuesday November 6, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrested Matthew Ramiro Alejos and on November 8, charged him with one count of oral copulation of a person under 16, one count of lewd act upon a child and four counts of molesting a child with a prior conviction. According to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, Alejos was convicted of annoying or molesting a minor on July 10, 2013 in Los Angeles County.

Detectives investigating the case believe there may be more victims.

Matthew Ramiro Alejos was a volunteer with the young adult ministry at Calvary Chapel in El Monte from 2013 to 2018. He was a camp supervisor at El Monte High School and Rosemead High, working for the El Monte Union High School District from May 2011 to November 2018. Alejos also worked as a football coach at Rosemead High from April 2016 to November 2017.

The arrest stems after a teenager who Alejo met at Calvary Chapel went to authorities last year. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, most of the alleged victims were boys Alejos met at the church and one boy Alejos met at Rosemead High School. The alleged incidents occurred between 2017 and 2018 and the alleged victims range in age from 14 to 17.
