On February, 18, Gerardo Regalado, a former varsity volleyball coach and math teacher at Perris High School in Perris, CA, was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting two former students. According to a Riverside Sheriff’s news release, the arrest was made after deputies began investigating the case in January after receiving a report of lewd acts with a child that occurred between 2013 and 2016. Regalado, who at the time was a tutor and volleyball coach, was identified as the suspect.
Regalado was taken into custody at the Riverside County sheriff’s station in Perris and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail. He had not been charged as of Friday February, 19. It is unclear whether the victims were on the volleyball teams Regalado coached or if they were students at the time of the assaults.
