On September 13 2018, Jeremy Haggerty a former Canyon High School basketball player, and basketball coach at several high schools in the William S. Hart School District, was arrested due to allegations of child molestation. On Wednesday, May 29 2019, Haggerty pleaded no contest to six counts of lewd acts on a child and three counts of sexual battery, according to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office
Haggerty is accused of sexually assaulting nine victims who ranged in age between 14 and 17 years old. According to officials, the incidents between Haggerty and his victims allegedly occurred over a period of several years, dating back to 2008.
Haggerty either coached or assisted at a number of schools in the Santa Clarita Valley, including Canyon High School, Golden Valley High School, Renaissance Academy, Saugus High School, Trinity Classical Academy, Valencia High School and West Ranch High School.
